Brian Kaner is President, Service and Real Estate for Icahn Automotive, leading one of the largest automotive service networks in North America and well-known service brands such as Pep Boys, AAMCO and Precision Tune. With more than 10,000 service bays across 2,000 Company-owned and franchised locations, Kaner is driving the Company’s expansion of its service model through acquisition, new business initiatives and the improvement of existing locations by focusing on people, programs, training and technology.
Since joining Icahn Automotive as a Senior Vice President overseeing strategy and corporate development activity, Kaner has been instrumental in more than 1,000 service-related acquisitions and integrations. Recently, Kaner led the launch of Pep Boys Mobile Crew, a state-of-the-art mobile repair unit that provides customers convenient, on-location maintenance and repair services by ASE-certified automotive technicians, as well as several new professional installation agreements for tires purchased from leading online retailers.
In response to changing industry dynamics, Kaner is overseeing a rapidly growing Fleet Service business that provides maintenance to the largest transportation network and fleet management companies. Icahn Automotive has also rolled out a program to train and develop automotive technicians to address the shortage facing the industry, and Kaner is passionate about encouraging more men and women to pursue viable careers in the skilled trades.
Kaner came to Icahn Automotive with more than twenty years of experience in senior financial and operational leadership positions in the services and industrial industries, where he had ownership for businesses with over a billion dollars in revenue and operations globally. Kaner developed a track record of driving profitable growth and leading transformations that increased shareholder value, while re-engaging teams operating in complex environments.
Previously, Kaner was President of Sears Automotive, with responsibility for hundreds of service locations across the U.S., and also served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sears’ Home Services and Appliance division. Kaner joined Sears after serving in various leadership roles for Stanley Black & Decker Security Solutions, including President, Stanley Security Europe - Nordic Region; CFO and COO of Stanley Security Solutions; and CFO of Mac Tools and the Specialty Tools Division. Kaner started his career in management with GE and is a graduate of Illinois State University.
