There are two types of BMC memberships: REGULAR and AFFILIATE.
Members of both types are:
established North American firms of good repute and sound financial condition AND
members of at least one of these three Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) divisions:
AASA - Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association
HDMA - Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association
OESA - Original Equipment Suppliers Association
At present, companies engaged solely in the remanufacture of parts are not eligible for BMC membership.
REGULAR members are companies primarily engaged in the manufacture of new automotive and light truck brake assemblies or components including shim, steel back / brake shoe and hardware. They are eligible to vote on matters affecting the council & may serve in elected positions on the BMC Board.
AFFILIATE members are companies primarily engaged in the manufacture of brake materials such as chemicals and raw materials or other related supplies OR primarily engaged in quality control and testing of BMC member company products. They are not eligible to vote on matters affecting the council nor may they serve in elected positions on the BMC Board.
BMC “Brake Industry Special Needs” Fund
In addition to the annual fees above, all new BMC members will be assessed $2,000 to support the “special needs” fund for future legislative, regulatory and legal needs related to the brake industry. In the future, additional “special needs” contributions may be requested of all members, as determined by the BMC, and will be pro-rated based on total company contributions made to the fund to-date.
